Aptly in part of the former Hittelman Brewery can be found this cavernous bar, venue (‘The Wick’), and beer garden.
Directions – L train to Montrose Avenue, walk one block east, turn left on Bushwick Place. Look up to the right and you’ll see the old Hittelman sign. Turn right on the next block (Meserole Street), the entrance is just ahead past the entrance for The Well (connected inside).
Alex says
Most of the vast number of taps are craft (50 of 70 – some go unused), as are bottles and cans - many of the offerings are uncommon and diverse. There’s a strong industrial feel as the vast Edward B. Hittleman Brewery was based here, the bar only occupies a small part – though an adjoining event room called The Wick is considered part of the same venue. Dark and cavernous inside, however there is a sizeable beer garden at the back. There’s lots of concrete and steel, including huge pillars near the bar area. Some beers are two-for-one in happy hour. There is sometimes a pop-up kitchen located by the garden entrance. Very worthy indeed for the selection. (1/2015, updated 11/2015)
