Formerly a cask destination, now reinvented as a keg only brewpub from summer 2017.
Directions – A / C/ E train to 34th Street-Penn Station, walk south on 8th Avenue, turn right on West 28th Street and continue for two longish blocks, turn right very briefly on 10th Avenue.
[New review] Now a brewpub, Death Ave has been reinstated to this guide following a period without cask and with a limited tap range. Six taps pour good beers brewed in house, encompassing a wide range of styles (at least that is possible with six taps). Someone was bold naming their Berliner Weisse 'Mr. Rancid'! (All beers seem to be titled 'Mr. something'.) (8/2017) ... ... ... The following is the original review, which largely still stands apart from the casks which languish empty on display now ... ... ... [Old review] A smart gastropub with a marble bar top. Up to eight gravity casks pour from a purpose built refrigerated stillage, though the usual number is four tapped and four settling. There are front and rear dining areas and a pleasant courtyard. The food menu is Greek influenced. The name is derived from an old New York Times nickname for 10th Avenue, when people dodged dangerous freight trains at street level. No wifi. (1/2015)
