Upright Brew House
New York NY 10014
(Greenwich Village / SoHo)
Twelve carefully chosen domestic taps, 100 bottles and cans – lots of unusual stuff here.
Directions – 1 train to Christopher Street, walk north-west on West 4th Street, turn left on Perry Street, and cross over Hudson Street, look left. Alternatively, A / B / C / D / E / F / M train to West 4th Street, use the southern (West 3rd Street) exit, walk north briefly to West 4th Street, turn left, turn left again on Perry Street, and cross over Hudson Street, look left.
A great little bar serving only American craft beers – no imports or corporate macro brands are stocked. The space is narrow with a slightly wider rear area which contains a small number of tables for dining, all the front bar area is either bar stool seating or standing – presumably hence the name. There are 12 ever-changing taps which are carefully curated and usually include local craft brews, and over 100 domestic craft bottles very much embrace the craft beer revolution in the U.S. and the resulting diversity that can be found today. Don’t miss. (2/2015)
Second visit April 2017 and once again we were impressed. The draft range here is very high quality indeed and there's a good list of bottles as well. Definitely highly recommended!
