One Mile House
New York NY 10002
(Lower East Side)
Good choices in the heart of the Lower East Side.
Directions – J / Z train to Bowery, it is directly outside the station at the northern exit. Alternatively, B / D train to Grand Street, walk north on Chrystie Street, turn left briefly on Delancey Street. Alternatively, 6 train to Spring Street, walk east on Spring Street, turn right briefly on Bowery, turn left on Delancey Street.
The front area inside has an unusual rectangular bar space in the middle, essentially dividing the space into two drinking areas. Of the 30 taps, 25 are always craft beers – some static and some ever-changing – and always including some interesting choices. There are plenty of craft bottles too. Regular beer events are held throughout the year. Join the OMH Society there, and you’ll be given a card with 100 numbered empty spaces. The aim is to drink 100 different beers there, noting what they are, and on completion you’ll receive a pewter tankard with your name engraved on it. (11/2014).
30 drafts, 46 bottles with lots of good choices on both lists. Just round the corner from Top Hops and well worth visiting. One of the bottles we requested wasn't available but the bartender went to extraordinary lengths to find something similar which he felt we'd enjoy - and he was right. This place is good and getting better all the time.
