Island to Island Brewery and Tasting Room
Brooklyn NY 11226
(Flatbush / Prospect Lefferts Gardens)
A quirky, community driven bar doubling as a juicery with a little brewery in the cellar (9 sixtels from each brew) which produces very limited quantities of good quality beer - some with innovative ingredients. There is a Caribbean theme, notably Trinidad. Not many beers are on tap but it is worth the trek.
Directions - 2 / 5 (some) train to Winthrop Street, walk west one block and turn left on Rogers Avenue. Alternatively, Q train to Parkside Avenue, walk east on either Parkside Avenue or Woodruff Avenue (the latter becoming Clarkson Avenue), when you reach Rogers Avenue turn right from Parkside or turn left from Clarkson.
How do I describe this amazing little place? Well, it's a community bar and juicery with a little brewery in the cellar which produces very limited quantities of beer and cider - and hybrids of both. It doubles as a 'juicery'. There is a strong Caribbean theme going on here, notably with the island of Trinidad, in common with the demographics of the area. Live music, DJs, art events, etc., feature regularly. Totally and utterly unique, I'm awarding a 'blue tick' (for highly recommended) despite only four or five beers (plus a couple of ciders) available. Service is friendly and knowledgeable - the bartender on my first visit put up with me constantly asking her questions for this review. The beers are of good quality, some of which use innovative ingredient additions. (12/2017)
